I was supposed to get an interlock device installed on my car, but pressing work deadlines forced me to reschedule. Fortunately, there's a service center in downtown LA that's open 7 days a week, so I'm going in on Saturday.
There's really no good way for the court to strictly enforce the interlock device other than mere suggestion. DMV does not relate information back to the department of corrections, and in fact the actions of the DMV have superseded the actions of the probation officer's suggestions in the past. But I'm going to begin my (at most) yearlong journey with an interlock on my meager Cressida.
I've actually been carting around my electric bike in the drunk of my car, in case I'm ever somewhere that requires me to, for some reason, go cycling. I mean, you never know. It's silly to just be sitting in my garage unused, as it is also silly for my trunk space to go unused. I didn't have the ability to haul shit before; now I do, and I plan on exercising that fact.
But I was late arriving at work because the satellite installation guys came late and took longer than anticipated. Great: throughput and latency problems. But in the end, I think it'll be all worthwhile. The wanderlust is escaping me, maybe not entirely, but only in the sense that I no longer feel confined by my surroundings. Having my car back goes along way toward that sentiment, even if I'm (unenforceably) constricted to certain destinations.
