I sat on my leather loveseat wearing my comfy sweatpants and my Nautica robe, I started patting the top of my had, noting how spikey my hair had gotten, and also how unnaturally sticky it currently was as well, as if I sprayed it with Aqua Net. I had spent the past two hours wiping tears from my eyes while simultaneously laughing at
Eternal Sunshine. Funny and poignant is one way to describe the movie, but that doesn't spearate it from anything, nor does it speak to the odd sense of deja vu I've had the past few days.
Earlier, in my bathtub, submersed in a tub of hot water while a movie was playing on my laptop, I opened the bottle of Cristal and poured it through my hair. And just to solidify the point, I then opened the bottle of Moet and did the same. Both times a little champagne got in my eyes, but it was fun licking it off the top of my lips. The Moet, being more acidic, I think, than the Cristal, actually stung quite a bit when it was on my scalp, but them's the breaks when liquid relaxation is your highest calling.
There have been moments throughout the past couple of days where it's felt like none of the past five months have even happened. I think that speaks more about the structured life I created, yet moved fluidly throughout. Tomorrow, I meet with my probation officer and sign up for the DMV classes, but so far the best description has been an overwhelming sense of
oddness in the familiarity. I expected a kaboom, where's the earth shattering kaboom?
Riding home on my bike, I knew I had improved on my cycling skills (or just my endurance as it manifests itself on the bike) when I noticed that I hadn't stopped midway up Erbes the way I normally did to rest. Today, all of that becomes moot as I break out my new TidalForce. As Eggers would say, you shall know me by my velocity.
