And I just live in it.
Gallegly is my Thousand Oaks representative in Congress. I'm okay with him, and while he does represent the majority of highly conservative Thousand Oaks/Santa Barbara residents, I'm still comfortable with him.
Boxer, apparently, will be Senator for life. At this point, a lot of California voters seem to just be voting for Boxer out of habit. She's got to do something to lose the position.
I'm not concerned about Bush winning the election, even though some
young Republicans are just absolutely elated. Why? Maybe because they're not being shipped to Iraq. Maybe because their job isn't being outsourced. Maybe because they prefer faith and morals to be legislated and not, say, um, oh, I don't know,
simply taught. Glad to know I'm one step closer to living in a theocracy. But this is why I think it's important to be comfortable with your Representative and Senators: nothing makes it into law without their say so, and for all the talk about gay marriage and abortion and so on, it has to make it through Congress first.
Honestly, this election doesn't feel like it affects me. I'm well off, but not so well off to receive tax breaks from the Republicans, and certainly too well off to receive tax breaks from the Democrats. I'm not going to Iraq, and if gas prices are your reason for electing someone president, you deserve to get punched in the face. I paid closer attention to the state propositions, such as Three Strikes. My comment to a fellow inmate: "I don't care so much who wins, I just want the series to go seven."
