Just wait and see.
For every kiss you give me,
I'll give you three.
The Ronnettes, "Be My Baby"

Day Twenty-Five
Went to a museum
Okay, so it was the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, but it was a collection of art and memorabilia nonetheless. There's this fascinating collection of paintings of presidents dating back to FDR and Harry Truman, but the most fascinating painting was the one of John F. Kennedy. FDR was facing to the right, but JFK was the only president who was staring at his shoes. I know it sounds a little comical, but there's a combination of shyness and thoughtfulness that comes across from the pose. Quite a constrast to the exuberance that most people associate with Kennedy.
The museum also boasts a pretty remarkable vista of the under-developed portion of Simi Valley. The view is starting to become encroached with houses, but for the most part, it's still pretty nice. At $7, it's a little pricey, especially considering how out-of-the-way it is, and how small it is. I don't know how much of a Tomb Markup exists, but I know my parents are big Republican fans, so it was really more about them.
Prior to that, the four of us (my brother was there as well) had a nice lunch at the trendy Westlake lounge P6. It's not the type of culinary faire that my parents typically experience, so again, I thought I'd get to do something different.
After our quick venture in Simi, we headed back to the house to watch "The Cooler," a fascinating movie starring William H. Macy as Bad Luck Incarnate. It's a pretty good flick, with a lot more nudity than I expected. Afterwards, I started playing some tunes on the stereo. Our family has always been the sit-around-the-living-room-and-listen-to-music types, and I find that kind of cool that we're so content to be filled with music in the air.
On our way out for a trip to Target, I left the stereo playing.
Mom: Turn off your stereo!
Me: I'm going to jail in four days. Can I please leave my stereo on?
During the day, we discussed the possibilities of having a driver pick me up from the facility in Camarillo. Those plans are currently in limbo, but it's looking more and more likely that I'll be hitching a ride in someone's car rather in the bus. My preference, though, is still to ride the bus, but there are certain unknowns regarding whether or not the Commuter Express even
has bike racks. Plus, there's the issue of transporting the bus from my garage to the facility in the first place.
