As you might know, I dropped $1000 to build a PC in my living room that takes commerically available off-the-shelf parts to create a TiVo-like device in my own living room. Not only does it automatically encode everything into DivX for me, but it also contains a CD burner, my favorite AVI-editing software, and a gyroscopic mouse so that I can wave it around in the air. Access to the program guide is free, and in the end, even if a comparable TiVo device is available in the future, the whole thing isn't obsolete since it's still a computer. It makes me wonder whether or not the
FCC knows that this sort of technology is readily available. In fact, I just finished recording the series of "I Love The 90's" off of VH1. As a result, I now have Ace of Base stuck in my head.
