The only real reason why I ever used IE was because it was more porn-surfer friendly back when I was at Caltech. But nowadays, there's no reason to given the prevalence of torrent sites and site-downloaders such as HTTrack.

My recommendations for an alternative browser would be Firefox or Opera.
