I have a picture
Pinned to my wall
An image of you and of me
And we're laughing and loving it all.

Thompson Twins, "Hold Me Now"
---
The company party was yesterday, our quarterly beer-bash. It's an opportunity for Errol to get the workers together to talk about the previous quarter's results. $125 million in the bank, no debt. Profitable. And we just announced the release of the product on which I had been working for the past year. There's been a definite transition for me at Ixia, whereupon responsibilities have shifted away from me and toward one of the engineers I referred who was looking for a summer intern job four years ago. I don't mind it at all; a few years back I had my opportunity to manage a team and I didn't really fare that well, primarily because I'm not really the management type. Or maybe I wasn't at the time.

Day Three
Stayed up way past my bed time goofing around

SportsCenter ceases to be original after the third showing, I've found, and video games only captivate so much of your attention. I finally managed to tweak the settings on my unlocked Nokia 6820 to act as a modem (plug it into my laptop and I've got 115kbps internet access), but I still haven't gotten to be able to send and receive text/email/pictures or browse the web on the phone. Apparently, Cingular customer support isn't open at 2am.

There exists a version
of myself that chose wisely, that saved the day, that won, that got it right. I am his approximation. I've rounded down.
