As Long As I Don't Get A Stupid Yellow U.S. Postal Jersey
I now have a bike (also known as "contingency plan") since it addresses a few issues: 1) exercise 2) socially responsible transportation 3) a way to travel in case my license is revoked. Like I said, I fear no outcome; it's uncertainty that I don't like. I plan on going to DMV first thing Monday morning to apply for a license that at least lets me get to and from work. And if not; well, now I can ride my bike to the Thousand Oaks Transit Center (on the top of a very big hill) and take a bus to Calabasas. It's only four months that my license would be suspended. Four months ago I was wondering how I was going to ship everyone their Christmas presents. Time flies.
The replacement car didn't end up being a SportDesign. I told them that I didn't want it; I'm hoping that by pointing out to them that it wasn't even close to being a replacement that they come back with a larger lump sum figure. Again, I plan on just taking the money, paying my parents for their C-class, and then stocking the rest away to do things like paying legal fees or taxes (I do have a shady accountant, remember?)
Poseidon is all set up (all I
really have to do is set up mouse gestures so that I can fast forward and rewind simply by flicking my wrist), and Pandora is close (the video is passable, and all I need is a Fanmate), so now I'm going to try and get Pygmalion back off the ground. Now that I've switched my wireless network to use MAC filtering instead, it should be easy for me to get the WET11 to work, even for a Linux box. I'd like to practice setting up and using an SSL HTTP Proxy so that I can surf the web in a completely encrypted fashion, with the intent that eventually, I'll just rent rack space in a data center somewhere in Silicon Valley, and have kickass download rates. And then I would just scp those files to my local machines here. In the process of doing a little research on the subject, Bryan and I discovered that PlanetLab currently had SSL HTTP Proxies set up on all of their machines, and that they were free to use (read: exploit). This certainly had to be temporary, and while the thought of using a worldwide network for the sake of downloading copies of movies
that much faster, I'd rather earn by bandwidth.
