Andre 3000 of Outkast, "Vibrate"
---
I've spent this weekend so far being very inactive, which has been kind of nice. I have to admit that being a very busy person has kept me from just lounging, which my lovely house in Thousand Oaks easily facilitates. I did a few chores around the house, but I didn't spend time with Carroll and Murray at the movies, nor did I go to Robert Burns night at the pub. Instead, I bought a new sound card for Poseidon (and even managed to take it out of the box), as well as kazaa-ed a copy of Photoshop so that I could finally print those scuba pictures. I also now have Beyond TV running, dutifully recording half of the Food Network as well as episodes of Queer Eye and the Simpsons.
Grant has pointed out
this guy for the presidential campaign. I have to say, it's kind of refreshing to see a Republican who isn't staunchly anti-choice or even pro-Bush. In the meantime, check
this site out. In my cursory examination of the list, my pick so far is libertarian Gary P. Nolan. I've often been warned that voting for an off-the-radar candidate is a waste of my vote. I've always countered that voting for someone in whom I don't really believe is a complete waste of my vote. I don't view the election process as the chance to proclaim who is the lesser of a handful of evils. The Total American Voting Public will ensure that that remains the same. One day, though, others will be voting like me, and then the world will change. In the meantime, virtually all the on-the-radar candidates will treat my life pretty much the same. One may alter a percentage point on a tax code here and there, or allocate it in a different way. In the grand scheme of things,
I didn't put the guy in office, so as long as he doesn't interfere with
my day-to-day affairs, I will have no qualms with what the Total American Voting Public deems acceptable.
In two days, I'll be in my first cooking seminar. In one week, I will be scuba certified. In two weeks, I will be in the North Carolina cold. In three weeks, I'll resume my dinner party series, using recipes culled from the airwaves of Food TV thanks to Poseidon. I'll start a running counter: so far, I'm serving a marinated crab salad (from Good Eats) and a coconut basmati rice (Boy Meets Grill).
